Virginia Kennedy Trent

Virginia Louise Kennedy Trent, 87, died peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2011, in the Palliative Care unit of Forsyth Medical Center. She was born February 21, 1924, in Charlottesville, VA, the daughter of the late William H. Kennedy and Laura Pittman Kennedy. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother. She loved gardening, reading, music, and writing stories and poetry. She loved to laugh and socialize. Virginia supported her family by working as an office manager in Charlottesville and Norfolk, Virginia until her retirement to Winston-Salem in 1994. In her later years she enjoyed the company of her constant companion Mr. William (Bill) Sory of Winston-Salem, NC and her dog Charlie and cat Leggy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Hathaway Trent. She is survived by her sister Charlotte K. Martin of Charlottesville, Va., five daughters; Donna Ward (Dan) of Oakton, VA, Cynthia Bryant (Bob) of Norfolk,VA, Lillian Curry (Don) of Chesapeake, VA, Laura Shirley (Michael Teague) of Winston-Salem, and Louise Campbell (Bob) of Winston-Salem; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces and 3 nephews. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Virginia's name to the Winston-Salem Symphony, 201 N.
