Virginia Hines Smith

Mrs. Virginia Hines Smith, 86, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Westchester Manor. She was born in Davidson County on May 31, 1923 to the late Andrew Clarence and Verta Clodfelter Hines. Mrs. Smith was a member of Canaan United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Damascus Smith. Mrs. Smith is survived by three daughters Judy Leonard (Randall), Nancy Blevins (Dale Stancil), and Jo Ellen Grubb, all of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren Traci Dunwell and husband Paul of Shallette, Tina Simmons and husband Shane of Advance; Trisha Harvey and husband Chad of Swannanea, and Amy Grubb of Winston-Salem; four great-grandchildren and a brother Donald Hines of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00am Monday, September 14, 2009 at Canaan United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev Chuck Ireson and Rev Lee Strange officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm this evening at Hayworth- Miller, Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Donor's Choice or Canaan United Methodist Church, 1760 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
