Mrs. Virginia Phillips Myers, 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born October 17, 1928 in Beaufort to Charles Walker and Roma Dixon Phillips, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Myers was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church where she was also a member and dedicated worker in the Oaklawn Senior Citizens Group and the Senior Citizens Choir. Surviving is her husband of 64 years, Claud Virgil Myers; two daughters, Diane Vause and husband Pleasant of Tallahassee, FL, and Sharon Canter and husband Lewis of High Point; one son, Larry Ray Myers and wife Martha of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Crystal LaVerde and husband Luis, Matthew Canter and wife Natalie, and Dustin Canter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Pleasant Vause officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
