Virginia Mabe Mooney

Mrs. Virginia Mabe Mooney, 88, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, December 2, 2010 at her home. She was born April 5, 1922 in Forsyth County to Marshall Harrison and Bessie Mabe. Mrs. Mooney was retired from Western Electric with over 30 years of service. She attended Salem Baptist Church all her life. She was a member of New Outlook Pioneers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Austin Mooney; a son, Morris Lee Mooney; brothers and sisters, Savannah Kiger and husband Ted, Viola Reynolds and husband Malon, Everett Mabe, McCree Mabe, Stella Beck and husband Ralph. Surviving are one daughter, Carleen Mooney of Winston-Salem; one brother, Lacy Mabe and wife Ila Mae of Winston-Salem; and one grandchild, Paula Skeen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. David Pattisall officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, December 3 at the funeral home.
