Virginia Muriel Newsome Mabe

Mrs. Virginia Muriel Newsome Mabe, 83, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at her residence. She was born on August 22, 1930 in Stokes County to Ollie Ray Newsome and Lela Smith Newsome. Mrs. Mabe was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked in sales for a men's clothing store in the 1950's and 1960's before she became the office manager for the family business. She was a member of Forsyth Lion's Club, Eastern Star, and the Moose lodge in her younger years. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters; one half brother; one half sister.
Surviving are two daughters, Vicki Mabe Hudson, Angela Mabe Hart and husband Bruce; one son, Stephen L. Mabe and wife Katherine; six grandchildren, Nicole Ammons, Elliot Mabe, Sarah Mabe, Muriel Hart, Rachael Hart, Aaron Hart; one great-granddaughter, Eliza Ammons; four half brothers and two half sisters; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 5, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Brian Alverson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until 11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
