Virginia Essex Jones

Virginia ""Jennie"" Essex Jones, 79, of Winston-Salem passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011. She was born November 9, 1931 in Clemmons, N.C. to the late Cecil R. and Margaret C. Essex. She worked at Wachovia Bank, Salem Carpet Mills and Booke and Company, all in Winston-Salem. She was a great bookkeeper, accountant, and manager. She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Donald F. Smith. Mrs. Jones leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 58 years, William Ray Jones; their two children, Ronald Jones (Frances) of Cornelius, N.C. and Sandra Donelson (Mike) of Orlando, FL, and one granddaughter, Carly Donelson, who was the love of her life. She is also survived by two sisters, Peggy Smith (Royce) and Jo Ann E. Smith. In addition she is survived by many special nieces and nephews and many special friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am, Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Stephen M. Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
