Mrs. Virginia Carolyn Horton, 64, passed away unexpectedly at her home in King. She was born in Boissevain, VA on January 7, 1945 to the late Ed and Retha Shoupe Harrison. Mrs. Horton was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who adored her three granddaughters. Mrs. Horton's other interests included spending time with her family were reading and cooking. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Harrison and a brother, Roger Harrison. Mrs. Horton is survived by her husband, Ronald F. Horton of the home, two sons, Brian Horton and wife Shelby of Booneville and Charles Horton and wife Melissa of King, three granddaughters, Hannah, Ellie and Elizabeth Horton, two sisters, Dorothy Calloway and husband Frank of Winston-Salem and Bonnie Lily and husband Stewart of Marion, VA, a brother, Bobby Harrison and wife Gloria of Van Buren, Arkansas and a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Harrison of Winston-Salem. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Horton will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall with Rev. John T. Byerly and Rev. Doug Anders officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening Jan. 13, 2009 at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall. (Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel)
