Virginia Hensley Butner

Pfafftown - Mrs. Virginia Hensley Butner, 84, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born September 20, 1926 in Surry County, NC to the late Alpha Pack Hensley and John Thomas Hensley. Mrs. Butner retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1988 and was a faithful member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in King, NC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Butner was preceded in death by one brother; two sisters; and one great-grandson. Surviving are her husband, Larry Dean Butner; five children, Faye (David) Brandon, Kaye Butner, Johnny (Shirley Koehn) Butner, Melody Gibbs, and David Butner; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Rachel Martin, Anne Hensley, and Hazel Lineberry. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, March 7 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Vince Keeton officiating. Burial will follow at East Bend Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 6 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice and Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care Unit for the exceptional care given to Mrs. Butner.
