Virgie Bowman McMillian

Winston-Salem- Virgie Bowman McMillian, 99, passed away Friday, August 21, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born May 6, 1910 in Patrick County, VA to the late Rufus and Martha Jane Niten Bowman. Ms. McMillian attended Meadowview Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Ms. McMillian was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Preceding her in death was her husband, Maston J. McMillian and four sons, Morgan, Fred, John, and Gene McMillian. Surviving are three daughters, Kitty Ross, Tina Whitaker, and Lynne Noah; son, Edward McMillian; daughter-in-law, Diana McMillian; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, August 24, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Robert Hutchens officiating. Burial will follow at Waughtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The family would like to send special thanks to the staff at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center Day Hospital Acute Care for the care they gave to our mother.
