Mrs. Violet Paige Pierce Holcomb of Yadkinville was greeted by angels and gently carried to the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whom she loved dearly at 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. She has finally been reunited with her loved ones whom she cherished and has longed for ever since they arrived earlier. Violet was born in Forsyth County to the late Thurman and Myrtle Pierce.
Violet retired with numerous years of service from Dancy-Galloway Real Estate Company. She enjoyed retirement to the fullest with her family at her home in Winston-Salem, on her farm in Hamptonville, and at her cottage in Carolina Beach. Though she never had children of her own, she had a niece and three nephews who seemed like her own. She was the most wonderful and grandest aunt ever!!! She could cook and bake like a gourmet chef. She was always preparing favorite meals or desserts for her family. She made sure they had anything and everything they wanted or needed. Aunt Violet loved to pop some popcorn and play games or watch a good movie with her nieces and nephews. She would also take them swimming, skating, horseback riding, etc.; but on Sunday she would go to church and expect the same from them. Aunt Violet was very caring and most generous to many people throughout her life. She was amazing and shared her wealth of knowledge with her family throughout the years.
Along with her parents, Aunt Violet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald Glenn Holcomb, brother, Thurman O. Pierce Jr, sister, Ella Mae Pierce, nephew, Gray Pierce, and sister-in-law, Thomasine C. Pierce Norman.
She is survived by her niece Deborah Larrimore and husband, Tommy, nephews, Dexter Pierce wife, Becky, Bryan Pierce and wife Kathy, a great-niece, Stephanie Prevette and husband Austin, a great nephew, Spencer Pierce, a great, great niece Adelyn Prevette, and a dear best friend, Margaret Griffin.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home Silas Creek Chapel (3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem) with the Rev. Darrell Hall officiating.
