Winston-Salem, NC: Decristofaro: Violet Wanda Salyers Decristofaro, 80 of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Decristofaro was born January 19, 1929 in Wise County, Va, to the late Thomas Beecher Salyers and Nora Reed Salyers. She was retired from RJR Tobacco Company with 29.9 years of service. Mrs. Decristofaro was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Ralph Eugene Nixon, Sr., a son, Thomas J. Nixon and a sister, Janice Yates. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Michael Robert Decristofaro of the home, four children; Nita Keasler and husband, Joe, Ralph Nixon, Jr. and wife Rhonda, Jimmy Nixon, Billy W. Nixon all of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren. Mrs. Decristofaro was the oldest of seven girls, five of whom survive; Virginia Brown, of Coeburn, Va., Jackie Hawkins of Winston-Salem, Janice Yates (Deceased) of Caney Ridge, Va., Glenda Kennedy of Nicholson, Va., June Barrowman of Winston-Salem, Donna S. Salyers of Coeburn, Va.; a special nephew, Buddy Nixon and wife, Darlene of Coeburn, Va. and two nieces; Carol and husband Andy of Frisco, New Jersey. and Nancy Brechka and husband Bill of Oaklahoma. The Family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2006 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 6:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Park officiated by Rev. Timothy Sapp. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
