Violet Inez Smith Alley

COLFAX-Violet Inez Smith Alley,92, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 surrounded by her family. She was a devoted Christian who put her Lord and Savior above all others. She was born on April 29, 1916 to the late James Albert and Viola Raper Smith. She was married to the late Edward C. Alley for more than fifty-five years. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Lene' Redmon, and a grandson, Baby Clark; two brothers, Ivan R. Smith and Elmer L. Smith; a sister Hattie Anderson, and five sons-in-law, Lee Roy Smith, Laurence F. Clark, Cletus Cooper, Glenn George, and Bobby Redmon; two great granddaughters and two great grandsons. She is survived by daughters Mary (Lib) Cooper, Patricia George, Martha (Becky) Redmon, Sherrill Crater (Samuel), and Violet Sealey (Donald); seventeen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; five great-great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eight step-great grandchildren; and Maw Maw's two special great-great grandchildren, Jacob Clodfelter and Ally Finney. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Smith Grove Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 pm, Friday, January 9, 2009 at Hayworth, Miller Funeral Home Kernersville Chapel.
