Viola Blakley Williams

Viola Nancy Blakely Williams, 107, passed away on June 2, 2015 at Alston Brook Nursing Facility in Lexington, NC. She was born May 9, 1908 in Booneville, NC to the late Wesley Bud Blakely and Mary Jane Wagoner Blakely. A long time resident of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Williams was a member of the Memorial Evangelical Church of Christ on Banner Ave. until 1999 and then a member of St. John's Lutheran Church on Silas Creek Pkwy. She retired from Forsyth Hospital in 1973 where she worked in the pathology lab as a secretary. She was preceded in death by her husband Milton C. Williams, daughter Betty Jane Fowler and son-in-law William W. Fowler, three brothers; Everett, Evan, and Foy Blakely, three sisters; Ina Blakely Landingham, Ethel Blakely Atwood, and Florence Blakely Davis. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Williams Livengood and son-in-law Jim E. Livengood; seven grandchildren, Ed Humphries and wife Betsy, Susan Paden and husband Keith, Janie Hoffman and husband Jim, Judy Reese, Tanya George, Lisa Beals and husband Frank, Sharon Strom and husband Brad: two step grandchildren; Billie Jean Fowler and Mary Ann Swinny: nine great grandchildren, Kristin Humphries and husband Greg, Carrie Furberg and husband Robert, Meghan George, Matthew George, Courtney Beals, Cameron Beals, Chandler Beals, Benjamin Strom, and Catherine Strom: three great great grandchildren; Ella Humphries, Daniel Furberg, Josie Furberg: and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday June 6, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Roger Schoolcraft officiating and Mrs. Williams' niece Pastor Patricia Humphries-Bivens assisting. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors beginning at 12:30 pm at the church. The Family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Alston Brook Nursing Home for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Williams.
