Viola Sprinkle Shaw

Mrs. Viola Sprinkle Fulghum Shaw born June 18, 1928 to William and Susie Sprinkle in Winston Salem passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2017. Viola worked for Western Electric, AT&T, and Alcatel-Lucent in Winston Salem and Greensboro. She was an advisor for Junior Achievement and worked with the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. Throughout her life she was involved with Telephone Pioneer Community Service projects and after retiring volunteered at the Christmas Clearinghouse and the Crosby golf tournament. Viola was married to John Fulghum and W. B. (Bill) Shaw both deceased. Deceased siblings are Mary S. Jones (Allen), Camilla S. Moore (Sidney), Peggie Johnston (Jim), Odell Sprinkle (Mabel), M. C. ""Buck"" Sprinkle (Helen), Glynn Sprinkle, H. Dexine Sprinkle and Harriett Yokeley (Archie). Viola is survived by her daughter, Karen F. Hutcherson (Vic), grandchildren, Shannon and Ashley Hutcherson and great-grandsons, Connor and Tyler Hines; step-children, Mark Shaw (Martha Lee), Billy Shaw (deceased), Susan Shaw Maurice (deceased) (Gary) and their children, Jessica Maurice Hessler (Brian), Will Cline, and Tara Lee Cline Stone (Matthew) and their children; numerous nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, O. C. ""Shorty"" Blackburn. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Mr. Charley Belch officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 320 West Maple Street, P.O. Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or a charity of choice. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at both Brighton Gardens and Clemmons Village I, for their extraordinary care and concern.
