Ms. Viola Davis Britt, 83, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born February 15, 1925 in Guilford County to the late William Henry and Ada Chandler Davis. Ms. Britt was of the Baptist faith and was a very talented artist. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert L. Britt; a loving son, Mitchell E. Britt; two sisters, Helen Smitherman and Mary Frye; and a brother, Buddy Davis. Surviving are two daughters, Tommie Jean Crain and Bobbie Smith and husband Doug; special loving daughter-in-law, Shirley Myers Britt; 10 grandchildren, Raymond, Bobby Jr., Robin, Darlene, Mitchell Jr., Kimberly, Rhonda, Barbara, Sandie, and Karen; 24 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Lona Kite and husband, Melvin; 4 brothers, Bobby Davis of W-S, Tommy Davis and wife Norma of California, Jimmy Davis and wife Danni of Texas, and Clyde Davis and wife Judy of Carolina Beach; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Mr. Wayne Snow officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Dr. Charlotte, NC 28215. The family would like to send a special thanks to Marie and James Myers, Charles and Linda Freeman, Patricia and Kenny Pennell, and to the Kate B. Reynold's Hospice Home for the care they all gave to Ms. Britt.
