Mr. Victor Julian Kelley, Jr. age 69 of Prosperity, SC went home to be with his loving wife for whom he greatly missed on Saturday, March 18, 2017. Mr. Kelley was born June 2, 1947 in Durham, NC to the late Victor Julian Kelly, Sr. and Hope Genieve Hosner Kelley. He had a fulfilling life of adventure and travel but most importantly the love of family and friends. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather (Papa) and son that anyone could have asked for. He adored the fine arts, music and dancing with his bride of 35 wonderful years. Mr. Kelley was proud to be a Navy Veteran and proud of his strong Irish roots. After graduating high school at Florida Air Acadamy he joined the U.S. Navy serving on Fast Attack Submarines and as a Navy Diver retiring at the rank of E7 Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy he studied at Piedmont Technical College in SC and Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. Mr. Kelley was employed by SCE&G VC Summer Nuclear Station in SC as the Director of Emergency Preparedness Evacuation, Training Nuclear Operator in Atlanta at IMPO, Inspector and Facilitator at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation in KS and promoted to Senior Nuclear Operator. Mr. Kelley was a member of the Lake Murray Rescue Squad, former Chief of the Little Mountain Resque Squad where he was a volunteer Fire Fighter and Paramedic. Also a PADI certified open water diver and he was an experienced recovery and rescue diver with his beloved wife. He was a trainer of the Jaws of Life and proud to have taught his wife and she was the only woman certified in SC at that time. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jean Brown Kelley, a sister, Marion J. Kelley and a niece, Sharon J. Kelley. He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Smith Brookman (Robert); one son, John Ezzell (Laura); seven grandchildren, Meagen Brookman Price (Jake), McKenzie Brookman, Gaivnion, Maggie and McKenna Smith and Lizzy and Brennan Kelley and two great grandchildren, Brooklyn and Jameson Price and one brother, Patrick KellEy (JoAnn). A graveside service will be conducted at 9:00 AM Friday, March 24, 2017 at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. Pallbearers will be Robert Brookman, Gaivnion Smith, John Ezzell, Jake Price and Matthew Boger. In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
