Vernon Idell Crews

KERNERSVILLE - Vernon Idell Crews, 84, passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born September 1, 1929 in Forsyth Co. to the late Charles and Mary Teague Crews. Mr. Crews was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Guilford Co. He was a retired employee of Parks Chevrolet in Kernersville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Donald Crews; and a nephew, Donald Crews, Jr. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Geralee Warren Crews of the home; two daughters, Vickie (Terry) Yoder and Sandra (Marty) Chatman; grandchildren, Kelcey Yoder and Davis Chatman; two nieces, Linda Pennington and Diane Clifton; and one nephew, Kelly Crews all of Kernersville. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Oak Ridge with Rev. Paul Dean and Rev. Neal Eller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
