Verna Jean Holbrook Tice

Clemmons-Verna Jean Holbrook Tice, 89, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at Clemmons Nursing and Rehab. She was born April 30, 1920 in Wilkes County to the late Columbus Franklin and Sarah Yale Holbrook. Mrs. Tice was a member of Berean Baptist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, Paul Lee Tice; son, Donald Wayne Grubbs and two grandsons, Danny Lamar Grubbs and Donald Billy Owenby. Surviving is a son, David Anthony Grubbs (Tammy) of Winston-Salem; grandson, Daniel Ray Berrier (Myra) and a great-granddaughter, Isabella Berrier. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday October 8, 2009 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Dr. Ron Baity officiating. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Berean Baptist Church 4135 Thomasville Road Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to send a special thanks to Deloris Williams and to Hospice of Winston-Salem for the care and support they gave to Mrs. Tice.
