Vaughn Lewis Parks

PfafftownMr. Vaughn Lewis Parks, 84, passed away at his home on Friday, January 18, 2013. He was born August 10, 1928 in Mappsville, VA to the late Charlie Everette and Inez Lewis Parks. Mr. Parks retired from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years of service and later retired from TRW/Firestone with several years of service. Preceding him in death was his wife on November 2, 2012, Juanita Jean Parks; sister, Juanita Bundick and a brother, Edwin Parks. Surviving are two sons, Gary Vaughn Parks of Winston-Salem and Norris Parks of Pfafftown; daughter, Yvonne Friedmann of Attica, Michigan; four grandchildren, Alecia Parks of Brown City, MI, Magen Ruby (Ben) of Fort Campbell, KY, Gabriel Friedmann (Dustin) of Austin, TX, and Julia Miller (Allen) of Pontiac, MI; five great-grandchildren, Beau Cournaya, Dylan Ruby, Piper Friedmann, Reece Parks, and Cyprus Friedmann; two brothers, Larance Parks of Beaufort, SC and Graham Parks (Anna) of Bertram, TX and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor Zachary King officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Friendship Baptist Church, 6120 Old Yadkinville Rd. Pfafftown, NC 27040.
