Winston Salem - Van Roger Motsinger, 85, passed away at his home on Sunday, April 2, 2017. He had been suffering from dementia for several years. His battle has now been won. Roger was born on June 9, 1931 in Forsyth County to Russell and Nellie Robbins Motsinger. He served for two years in the US Army at Fort Bliss, TX and retired from RJR Archer Aluminum after 34 years of service. Roger loved sports and worked with the Kernersville Little League baseball teams for many years. Roger and his wife, Elizabeth, loved fishing together and spent many summers in the Outer Banks.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his son, Randy Motsinger.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Motsinger; his son, Ronnie Motsinger (wife, Marty); six grandchildren, Brent Motsinger (wife, Malinda), Jonathan Motsinger (wife, Lindsay), Seth Motsinger, Sarah Berkebile, David Berkebile, and Daniel Berkebile; and two great grandchildren, Sawyer and Sullivan Motsinger, all of whom were the loves of Roger's life!
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. A private graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating.
