On Monday, July 26, 2010, Ursula ""Dee-Dee"" Elaine Dudley Campbell peacefully journeyed to her new home. Surrounded by her loved ones, she traded her earthly address for her permanent heavenly abode. Born in 1934 in Kimberly, WV, Ursula was the sixth child of eight siblings born to Edward Dudley, Sr. and Ethel Dudley, both of whom preceded her in death. Educated in Kanawha County, she moved with her family to Washington, DC during the 1950's where she worked as a domestic while attending night school to obtain her Nursing Degree. For most of her nursing career she worked in Washington, DC and the surrounding area. Sports and watching things grow were her passion. In 1970 she coached a ladies softball team, the Boomer Zodiacs, which forged friendships with young women that have lasted throughout her lifetime. Ursula never met a stranger, and opened her heart and willing hands to everyone. Late in life she met and married Mack Daniel Campbell with whom she shared a loving and nurturing life until his death in 1998. Three brothers, Henry, Nathaniel, and Melvin Dudley; two sisters, Varetta Dudley and Ilene Bell preceded her in death. She leaves to celebrate her life, her daughter, LaDonna Houchins Dudley of Pfafftown; two grandchildren, Rick (Tia) Houchins of Waldorf, MD and Kymberli Oakes of Winston-Salem; three great-grandchildren, Jalen, Morgan and Jordan; a brother, Ralph (Tawana) Dudley of St. Albans, WV; a sister, Teresa Jordan of Pfafftown; a cousin, Virginia Jackson of Lexington, KY; a sister-in-law, Barbara Dudley of Houston, TX; nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Roy Swann officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service, and at the home of LaDonna Dudley after the service.
