Mr. Tyre Walter McBride, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 2, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born September 5, 1933 in Wilkes County to the late Joseph Walter McBride and Ruby Brown McBride. Mr. McBride was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church for 52 years and was the choir director for 38 years. He retired from Exxon Corporation with ten years of service and subsequently began his own company, R & M Trucking which he owned and operated for ten years. Mr. McBride is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Reo Billings McBride of the home, whose devotion and great care allowed him to remain in his home and with his family; three children, Wilma Branson and husband Ricky of Kernersville, Allen McBride of Winston-Salem, and Brenda Bowden and husband Barry of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Scott Branson, Julie Holt, Brian Bowden, and Brad Bowden; five great-grandchildren, Ariel, Emily, Evie, Nicole, and Nicholas; three sisters, Janice Billings and husband Elmer, Elizabeth Staley and husband Paul, and Betty Cothern; a brother, David McBride. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Northwoods Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Thompson and the Rev. Rufus Culler officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the exceptional and compassionate care that was given to Mr. McBride in his home and in his last few days at the hospice center.
