Tryfon Evangelos Liontis, 92, peacefully embraced eternal rest on January 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 6, 1932, in Stenoma Evrytanias, Greece, Tryfon, the son of Evangelos and Vasiliki, embarked on a journey that led him to the United States, where he settled in Winston Salem. A skilled carpenter and restaurant owner. He was a devout member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
Tryfon is survived by his son, Sam and wife Litsa Liontis of Winston Salem; and daughter, Koula and husband Father Deacon George Politis of Charlotte. His enduring spirit lives on through six grandchildren, Maria and husband Yuyi, Nik and wife Nicole, Marianna, Travis, Katherine, and Lillia; and the newest member of his family, his great granddaughter, Kalliopi. He preceded in death by his wife, Maria; his parents; and his brother, Sotiris Liontis.
His memory is further cherished by his two sisters-in-law, Elefteria Karagiorgis of Winston Salem, and Theodora Skenteris of Greece; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
A heartfelt visitation will commence at 10:00AM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM on Tuesday January 28, 2025, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. The service will be officiated by Fathers Minas Tsambounieris and Jonathan Resmini and Father Deacon George Politis. Interment to follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
We would also like to offer a warm heartfelt thank you to all of his Doctors, The Miller Street Dialysis Center, and the fellow staff of Trellis Hospice Center for all of the help they have given us.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 435 Keating Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
