Troy Monroe Vestal

Mr. Troy Monroe Vestal, age 96 of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children. Mr. Vestal was born in Yadkin County, June 26, 1920 to Tandy Barnett Vestal and Mary Elizabeth Kittrell Vestal. He was a very faithful member of Rural Hall Christian Church until his declining health. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II, and retired from Hanes Hosiery with twenty nine plus years of service. Troy loved his Lord, Family and Country. In addition to his parents Mr. Vestal was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother. Mr. Vestal is survived by his wife of 74 years of marriage, Rosa Pruitt Vestal of the home. Three daughters: Donna (James) Plunkett, Linda (John) Booth and Hilda (Robert) Landrum. Six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren (with number sixteen due in November) and five great-great-grandchildren. Three sisters: Martha Newsome, Katie Stanley (husband Jack Badgett) and Shirley (James) Holsclaw. One brother, Tula (Bonnie) Vestal. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Vestal will be held Wednesday afternoon, July 27, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Rural Hall Christian Church in Rural Hall by Dr. Ron Voss. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park with military burial honors provided by the American Legion of King Post 290. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Rural Hall Christian Church, 280 Bethania Rural Hall Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
