Mrs. Trenis Massey Hembree, 88, of Winston-Salem, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born March 19, 1921 in Durham Co., North Carolina to the late Joseph A. & Mattie S. Massey. A resident of Anderson, South Carolina for most of her life, she moved to Winston-Salem for care by her family following her development of Alzheimer's. Her interests and enjoyment were her family, reading her Bible, flower and vegetable gardening, and art. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence S. Hembree of Anderson, SC; and two sisters, Ruby Pender of Mebane and Mildred Gregory of Greensboro. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerryl W. & Shirley M. Sears of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Frances Graves of Mebane and Leola Faucette of Burlington; three brothers, Earl Massey of Pleasant Garden, Bernice Massey of Spartanburg, SC and David Massey of Mebane; one grandson, Jerryl Sears of Winston-Salem; three granddaughters, Crystal Sears and Nissa Crump of Winston-Salem, and Andrea Axtell of Raleigh; five great grandchildren; and numeous nieces and nephews in North and South Carolina. There will be a private service for the family at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek chapel and private burial in Anderson, SC.
