MYERS RURAL HALL - Mr. Travis Lee Myers, 79, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born October 15, 1930 to the late Ollie Cletus Myers and Florence Boger Myers. Mr. Myers proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Briggs-Shaffner and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church. Mr. Myers was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. In addition to his parents, Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Clark Myers; one son, Michael Jonathan Myers; and three brothers, Walter, Billy and Frank Myers. Surviving are one daughter, Pamela Starr Myers of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Jonathan Lee Myers, Levi Michael Myers and Mikala Jean Myers all of Winston-Salem; one sister, Hazel M. Phelps of Advance; two brothers, Raymond C. Myers of Easley, SC and Alvin L. Myers (Betty) of Advance; and also, several nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2010 at Crestview Memorial Park with Pastor Danny Poindexter officiating. Military burial rites will be provided by the American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
