Tonya Lynn Boothe Smith, a devoted mother, wife, daughter, and nurse went to be with her Heavenly Father on January 6th, 2023, at the age of 49 in King, North Carolina. Tonya graduated from South Stokes High School in 1992 and later in life graduated from nursing school in 2012. She worked for Novant Health in their Labor and Delivery Department. Tonya was a family-oriented woman who loved to plan nice events to be surrounded by the people she loved. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas - she loved holiday baking with her mom and family, even when the no bake cookies did not always turn out how she planned! Tonya fully believed that a trip to the beach could cure any bad day. She loved the sunshine! Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her family. Tonya is survived by her mother Willie Boothe (Pinnacle), brother Michael Boothe (King), and husband Dewey Maynard (King). Her children; son Jordan Smith (King) and two step-daughters Gabby Hawley (Landis) and Mariah Maynard (King). Tonya will also be remembered by her two nieces Stephanie Bowden (Pinnacle), Allison Boothe (Pinnacle), and her beloved great-niece Paislee. Along with her longtime friend and father to her son, Stan Smith. She is preceded in death by Joe Boothe, her loving father, whom she missed very dearly. Her family is able to find solace in knowing that he was the one waiting for her at the pearly gates of Heaven. Tonya was present for every event for her children over the years like birthdays, proms, and graduations. She was able to attend big life events for all three of her kids; she attended Jordan’s Electrician Certificate Ceremonies, Mariah’s graduation to the Army, as well as Gabby and John’s wedding. Tonya’s unconditional love for her son was known not just within her family but also within her community. She lovingly referred to Jordan as precious which eventually stuck to where even her coworkers began using the adoring name. Tonya could often be found on a ball field supporting Jordan in football and baseball. There are not enough words to describe how deep her and Stan's love is for their son. Her love for babies made her a phenomenal labor and delivery nurse and she was well respected at Novant for her devotion to her babies. At home, you could see how much joy her great niece, Paislee, brought to her. Tonya and Paislee enjoyed bath time, Dash games, and Tonya even purchased her a princess cozy coupe for her first birthday. Tonya loved her church, Dobson Church of Christ, and the amazing congregation that rallied behind her. They were quick to pray with her or be there in any time of need as a listening ear or with a casserole in hand. Her church family kept in touch with her daily with cards and flowers that made her smile each time. Tonya loved to garden and her favorite flowers were roses. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday January 9, 2023, at Pinnacle Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Scott Meadows and Minister Ralph Sproles officiating. Flowers can be sent to Hayworth-Miller (Rural Hall) for her graveside service or in lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Novant Health Foundation to go to the Women’s and Children fund.
