Tommy Vestal Welborn

Mr. Tommy Vestal Welborn, 74, of Winston-Salem died Monday, September 21, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 5, 1935 in Forsyth County, the son of the late James and Vivian Myers Welborn. He was a quiet Christian man who enjoyed reading the Bible and Christian literature. He enjoyed woodwork and wood carving. He retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and served with the US Army, stationed in Guam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Welborn. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joan Lee Welborn of the home; two daughters, Darlene Atwood and husband, Steve and Lisa Edwards and husband, Nathan of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Adam Hull and Rachel Edwards and three great grandchildren, Braden Dalton and Lindsay Hull. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 am at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Robert Whitaker officiating. Entombment will follow in Parklawn Mausoleum.
