Thomas Stancil Byrd, Jr.

Mr. Thomas Stancil Byrd, Jr., passed away Tuesday evening, January 18, 2022, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. Thomas was born in Wake County, on January 5, 1946, to the late Thomas Stancil Byrd, Sr., and Elsie Allen Byrd. He enjoyed being a mail carrier and missed his routes greatly when he was not working. Thomas loved working in his garden, especially with his cactus and orchids. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother James E. Byrd; and sister-in-law Brenda Byrd. Thomas is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Martin Byrd; children Cheryl Martin (Hal) and Derrick Byrd (Monica); granddaughter Sophie Byrd; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
