Thomas "Tom" West, Sr.

KERNERSVILLE - Thomas ""Tom"" Velton West, Sr., 80, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at his home. Tom was born on November 26, 1936 in Wilkes County to Ira Marshall and Delphie Ann Ayers West. Tom was a good Christian man of the Baptist faith. He loved going to the beach and also enjoyed playing the guitar and shooting a game of pool!
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sprinkle West; two granddaughters, Kristy Lynn Boles and Priscilla Nicole McCloud; three brothers, Marvis, Vernon and Wayne West; three sisters, Laura West, Mary Laws, and Ina Craig.
Surviving are six children, Thomas Velton West, Jr., Allen Ray West, Russell Todd West (Carrie), Gary Dale West (Rhonda), Tammy Ann McGee (Eric), and Tonya Lynn Johnson; 17 grandchildren, Alanda, Joseph, Erika, Danny, Michelle, Matthew, Eric, Rusty, Lauren, Nikki, Kayla, Renee, Faith, Betty, Michael, Isaac, and Selena; 23 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Elbert Marlin West.
A graveside service will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall with Rev. Russell West officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
