KERNERSVILLE - Thomas Gaither Walsh, 87, died Monday, June 11, 2012 at Walnut Cove Health and Rehabilitation Center. Thomas was born June 28, 1924 in Wilkes County to the late James Culby and Judith Lemar Walsh. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was of the Baptist Faith. Thomas owned and operated his sawmill for over 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ferguson Walsh; two sisters, Chasta and MaryBell; and two brothers, Bill and Roland Walsh. Surviving are two daughters, Pam W. Trivette, of Belews Creek, and Sheila J. Walsh, of Roanoke, VA; two sons, Thomas E. Walsh, of Kernersville and Joe Walsh, of Walkertown; five grandchildren, Jeff, Heather, Stephen, Eddie and Mitzi; seven great grandchildren, Dylan, Haley, Maddie, Caitlin, Amanda, Michaela and Ellie; five sisters, Mildred Davis (husband, Kenneth) of Nashville, NC, Lib Smith, of Daytona Beach, FL, Audrey Clanton, of Hudson, NC, Blondell Watts and Peggy Land, both of Boomer, NC. A graveside service with Military Rites will be held at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Miller officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM, Tuesday, June 12, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
