Thomas "Tommy" Joseph Griffin

Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Joseph Griffin, 87, passed away Friday December 1, 2023 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 6, 1936, in Forsyth County to the late Harvey Lee Griffin and Alice Styers Griffin. Tommy graduated from Rural Hall High School in 1955 and proudly served his country in the US Army Reserves. He was a retiree of Western Electric and owner of Griffin’s Used Cars. Tommy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, Adventurers Sunday School Class, where he would serve as a trustee, a member of building and grounds, and transportation committees. He was a former member of the Stanleyville Civic Club. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his first wife, Valeria Puckett Griffin; a son, Bradley Griffin; and his step-father, Nathan Ashner. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nancy Carter Griffin; a daughter, Judi Griffin; a granddaughter, Laurel Griffin; three bonus sons: Todd Carter (Kelly), Terry Carter, and Tim Carter (Christy); four bonus grandchildren: Mikki Smith (Mills), Trent Carter, Jarod Carter, Madison Carter; and a bonus great-grandchild, Bryce Smith. A funeral Service will be conducted 2:00PM Tuesday December 5, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt and Rev. Dr. Virgil G. Dwyer, Jr officiating. A private committal service will take place at the First Baptist Church of Stanleyville Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 12 to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
