SMITH RURAL HALL, Mr. Thomas Gordon ""Tommy"" Smith, 59 of Tobaccoville Rd. died unexpectedly at his home Monday, October 27, 2008. Tommy was born in Forsyth County on May 11, 1949 the son of Thomas ""Mac"" and Ina Gordon Smith. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall and was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the war in Vietnam. Surviving is his wife of 31 years Linda Williams Smith of the home, two daughters Jennifer Smith of the home and Laura Smith of Winston-Salem, his father and mother Mac and Ina Smith of Pinnacle, two sisters Janet (Terry) Griffin of Rural Hall and Susan (David) Whiteheart of King, a brother David (Karen) Smith of Winston-Salem, numerous nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters in-law, Brenda (Terry) Brandon and Elmer F. Martin, Jr. of King and Howard (Barbara) Williams of Rural Hall. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2008 at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall with Rev. John T. Byerly and Rev. Terry Brandon officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the King American Legion Honor Guard will follow in Rural Hall Memorial Park. The Smith family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM tonight at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall
