WINSTON-SALEM - Mr. Thomas Richard Smith (Tommy), 66, beloved husband, daddy and poppa, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born January 9, 1943 in Forsyth County to Rennie Hege and Mary Stevens Smith. Mr. Smith attended Christ Moravian Church and was retired from Piedmont Natural Gas with 43 years of service. He was past president of the IBEW of Piedmont Natural Gas Company for North Carolina and South Carolina. He was a long-time platelet donor at the Red Cross. He also enjoyed softball as a member of Poindexter Lumber Company team. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Carter Smith; a daughter, Robin Smith Boger and husband Randy of Rural Hall; two precious grandchildren, Jacob Smith Boger (Jake) and Grace Elizabeth Boger(Gracie); two brothers, Robert M. Smith and wife Sarah of Lexington and their daughter Melanie Kennedy and husband Danny of Trinity, Rennie H. Smith, Jr. and wife Barbara of Clemmons; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 13 at Christ Moravian Church with Dr. Neil Routh officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Christ Moravian Church, 919 W.
