Thomas Edward Sink

Mr. Thomas Edward Sink, 85, of Clemmons, NC, a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Monday, November 30, 2009. Mr. Sink was born July 16, 1924 in Davidson County to the late Charles Harrison and Luna Myers Sink. He was retired from RJR Tobacco Co. and was a US Army Veteran of WWII. During the war, he served in New Guinea, where he received two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star and was a POW. After retirement, Mr. Sink volunteered as a driver for the VA Clinic and was also a volunteer for the Alzheimers Association. He was a member of the VFW and The Military Order of The Purple Heart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Spaugh Sink. Surviving to cherish his memory, are two sons, Gary Sink and wife, Karen of Walnut Cove, NC, Michael Sink and wife, Kathy of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Emily Sink Wilson and husband, Aaron, Rebecca Sink; two great-granddaughters, Anna and Ruby Wilson; three step grandchildren, Kyle Fletcher and wife, Sherry, Kim Fulp and husband, Gene, Jamie Fletcher; five step great-grandchildren, Brandon Fletcher, Heather Fletcher, Adam Fletcher, Erin Fulp, Kaitlyn Fulp; and a brother, Clinton Sink and wife, Marie of Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, December 4, at Hayworth-Miler Silas Creek, officiated by the Rev. David Merritt. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Gardens of Memory, in Clemmons, NC. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 1315 Ashleybrook Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; Hope Moravian Church, 2759 Hope Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127; or to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 638.
