Thomas Phillips Renn, 62, of Winston-Salem, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 30, 1948 in Forsyth County to the late Joseph Alexander Renn Jr. and Dorothy Phillips Renn (Lavery). He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War 1968-1969 in the 313th Radio Research Battalion. He spent the majority of his life in the computer field at Gravely, Wachovia, Reynolds and GMAC Insurance. He will be remembered for his love of cooking, primarily cooking at fundraisers for Fairview and New Philadelphia Moravian Churches. Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Nancy Fansler Renn; one son, J.T. Renn and daughter-in-law, Heather Renn; one daughter, Allison Renn Yokeley and son-in-law, Rev. Joey Yokeley; three wonderful grandsons, Joshua Yokeley, Jonah Yokeley and Josiah Yokeley; one sister, Judy Renn Graham and brother-in-law, Bill Graham; one brother-in-law, Henry Fansler and sister-in-law, Betty Jane Fansler; several nieces and nephews; and many beloved brothers and sisters in Christ. A celebration of life service will be held at New Philadelphia Moravian Church on Wednesday, March 16 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Worth Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 15 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
