KERNERSVILLE – Thomas Thayer Joyce, 62, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022 ,at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. Thayer was born on August 18, 1959, in Guilford County to Donald and Maxine Joyce. Thayer was a member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and was a Veteran of the US Navy. He enjoyed going to the beach and fishing with his buddies, as well as sharing a game of golf. Thayer was an avid Nascar fan, with the Earnhardt boys among his favorite drivers. He loved spending time with family and friends at his cookouts and listening to country music.
In addition to his parents, Thayer was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Shawn McKay.
Surviving is his wife, Sonia Hage Joyce; two stepdaughters, Selena West, and Stephanie Mabe; step-granddaughter, Kennedy Grace; one brother, Mike Joyce (Pam); nephew, Eric Joyce (Heather); niece, Lindsay Davis (Joe); mother-in-law, Shirley Hage; brother-in-law, Alan Hage; sisters-in-law, Debbie Hage and Toni Spivey; three great nephews, Walter “Jr” Wade, Ethan Joyce, and Colin Joyce; and a nephew, Levi Davis, who is due in October.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Hester and Rev. Mike Goode officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
