Mr. Thomas George Hemrick, 89, of Mocksville, passed away Monday, September 19, 2011 at home. He was born June 8, 1922 in Yadkin County to Dottie Lee Hemric and Mary Ellen Wooten Hemric. Mr. Hemrick served during World War II in the United States Army serving in the Phillipines and Okinawa. He was a member of Redland Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a carpenter for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Thomasine H. Pierce and seven siblings, Ruby Davis, Lillian Hemric, Lottie Cates, J.P. Hemric, Charlas Hemric, Alfred ""Crick"" Hemric and Marvin Hemric.Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Jeddie Evelyn Hemrick; one daughter, Susette Westmoreland of Mocksville; four grandchildren, Tonya Martinez of Graham, Christin Creek and husband Anthony of Florence, AL, Amber Walker and husband Michael of Ronda, and Bobby Lewis and wife Sharon of High Point; three great grandchildren, Leigh Ann Martinez, Carlie Macellia Honeycutt and Austin Thomas Honeycutt; two sisters-in-law, Josie Hemric and Dorothy Hemric and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Cornatzer United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
