Thomas Haywood Goodin, Jr.

Mr. Thomas Haywood Goodin, Jr., 73, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Goodin was born on October 13, 1937 in Iredell County, NC to the late Mr. Thomas Haywood Goodin, Sr. and Sarah Christine Jordan Goodin. Mr. Goodin graduated in 1960 from N.C. State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering. He went on to work for AT&T as a Technical Writer for 26 years. He was a Telephone Pioneer with Western Electric and AT&T and a Group Captain with The Gideons International. Mr. Goodin volunteered at Contact Ministries for 30 years. He also taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon at Griffith Baptist Church for many years. Mr. Goodin was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dr. John A. Goodin. He is survived by his loving wife, Margie Hoover Goodin of the home; two sons, Kim A. Goodin (Cindy) of Rocky Point, NC and Brian A. Goodin (Leigh) of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Kris Wilson (Brian) of Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Carolyn Goodin, Jordan Goodin, Kristy Woodard (LCpl. Aaron), Brian Michael Wilson and Sarah Wilson; a brother, Joe Goodin (Linda) of Statesville, NC; a sister-in-law, Shelba Goodin Shrum of Clayton, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Griffith Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Brown officiating. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the funeral service on Sunday.
