Thomas Denver Everhart

Mr. Thomas Denver Everhart, 78, of Lewisville, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009 at Springwood Care of Forsyth. He was born September 23, 1930 in Forsyth County to Charlie Oscar and Beulah Thomas Everhart. Mr. Everhart was a member of Robinhood Road Baptist Church where he held positions of leadership. He organized the Prime Timers Club for the Seniors of the Church. He was a retired Captain with 30 years of service and one of the original Fire Policeman of the Winston-Salem Fire Department. He was the first President of the Winston-Salem Fire Fighters Club. He graduated from Griffith High School in 1949. Mr. Everhart was active in all sports and lettered in football, baseball and basketball.He was all county in baseball his senior year. Mr. Everhart liked St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Wake Forest Football, golf and fishing. He was a mentor to many young boys when he coached church basketball, Northwest Forsyth Little League, helped build the North West Forsyth Little League baseball complex and coached Lewisville Titans football. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Faye Robinson Everhart of the home; three sons, Thomas Denver Everhart, Jr.(wife Christi) of Lewisville, Dale Manley Everhart of Greensboro and Daryl Charles Everhart (wife Shannon) of Anderson, SC; two daughters, Donna Everhart Stafford of Lewisville and Desca Lynn Everhart of Lake Norman; five grandchildren, Christy Everhart, Houston Stafford, Shelley Stafford Lail, Victoria Everhart and Landon Everhart; two great grandchildren, Brady Lail and Jordan Lynn Everhart; one sister, Nancy Carolyn Bennett (husband Lonnie) of Winston-Salem and his forever faithful companion, ""Rudy"". A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, June 29, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Many thanks to Debora Foltz, Renee Eubanks and Janette Tate for their dedicated and loving care. Also to Mary Ellen Shumate for always just being there when needed.
