Mr. Thomas ""Tom"" Howard Davenport, Jr., 68, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Guilford County to Thomas H. and Walta Parrish Davenport on October 17, 1942. Mr. Davenport was a veteran of the US Army, serving as part of the 529th MP Division stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church where he was a long time usher and former member of the Board of Trustees. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Packaging with over 37 years of service. Mr. Davenport was a true car enthusiast. He was a loving son who cared for his mother for many years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Davenport was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Davenport. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Dawn M. Davenport; a son, Todd Davenport of Winston-Salem; a grandson, Caleb Davenport of Walkertown; one sister, Norma Zunich and husband Ed of Hendersonville; a nephew, Andy Zunich of Seymore, TN; and three nieces, Katie Tippin of Virginia Beach, VA, April Martin and Amy DeBusk, both of Kernersville. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Friedberg Moravian Church Graveyard with the Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Rev. James C. Newsome officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
