Thomas Whelldon Crofts

Mr. Thomas W. Crofts, 71, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born November 23, 1939, Thanksgiving Day to the late Clyde and Elizabeth Nelson Crofts in Rock Springs, WY. Thomas graduated from Rock Springs High School and served his country in the United States Air Force. He retired from the city of Winston-Salem and was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. His greatest joy is life was helping and doing for others. Even in death he is still helping people by being an organ donor. What his did for himself will go with him, but what he did for other will be with them forever. In addition to his parents Thomas was preceded in death by two sisters; Betty Evans, and Elsie Mae Hiner. One brother, Clyde Crofts, Jr.
Surviving is a sister, Clara Simmons of AZ. Former wife, Rosie Odell of NC. .Five brothers-in-law: Noce Evans of OK, John (Carol) Murray of CA, Rodney (Cathy) Murray, Ben (Linda) Murray, and Malcolm (Linda) Murray all of MS. Four sisters-in-law: Barbara (Ken) Coleman of NC, Jacqueline (Lester) Lambert, Margie Murray and Debbie (Jeff) Weaver all of MS. Several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall, NC Sunday evening, April 17, 2011 from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Funeral services with military honors for Mr. Crofts will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Crosby MS. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 290, P.O. Box 432, King, NC 27021
The family would like to thank Special Friends; Bryanna Johnson and Candice Barnes, Neighbors, Howard and Betty Lasley and Vickie Wilson for all the acts of kindness shown to him before and during his illness. Also to his former wife, best friend and caregiver Rose Crofts for taking care of him during his entire illness.
