Thomas Rayford Carroll

THOMAS RAYFORD CARROLL Mr. Thomas Rayford Carroll, 63, of Pfafftown, beloved husband, father, grandfather and son, passed away July 19 doing what he loved, bicycling. He was born February 3, 1945, in Gates County, NC to Thomas Esca and Lilly Harrell Carroll. He loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, and absolutely adored his family. Not a need was unmet when Tom was around. He married the love of his life, Judith Crews Carroll, on June 26, 1966, and they shared 42 wonderfully blessed years together. The countless deeds done for his family and others will always be cherished and remembered. He served in the National Guard, was retired from RJ Reynolds after 35 years, and was currently employed at Doub Construction. He was an avid bicyclist and member of Center Grove Baptist Church, where he served in numerous roles, including a Deacon and choir member. Mr. Carroll was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his loving wife; two sons, Russell Thomas Carroll and wife Anne of Pfafftown and Austin Gray Carroll of the home; a daughter Lara Carroll Joyce and husband Steve of Pfafftown; three granddaughters, Brittany Ann Joyce, Lindsey and Lexie Carroll;one grandson, Tommy Joyce; his mother; a brother Dennis Carroll and wife Beverly of Pfafftown; two nephews and a niece and many special friends. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at 1:00 pm at Center Grove Baptist Church, Clemmons, with Dr. Steve Corts and Pastor Wayne Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
