Thomas Gray Beaman Jan. 29, 1921 - Sept. 24, 2012 Thomas Gray Beaman, of King, peacefully passed away on September 24, 2012. Mr. Beaman was born in Winston-Salem on January 29, 1921. He married his lovely wife Lucille in Mt. Airy in 1940. Corporal Beaman honorably served in the U.S. Army in World War II and the Korean War. For his service, he received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Beaman had many vocations, from taxi driver to mechanic, but he retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Beaman was preceded in death by his parents, Winifred Beaman and Elizabeth Hicks, three sisters, one brother, and his beloved son Larry. He was survived by his wife, Lucille; son Jerry and his wife Anne of Rural Hall; son Randy and his wife Sherril of Tarboro, NC. Mr. Beaman also leaves behind five grandchildren, nine great-grand-children, and four great-great-grandchildren. The viewing will be held Wednesday, September 26 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The funeral will be Thursday, September 27 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., followed by a grave-side service at Crestview Cemetery in Rural Hall.
