Thomas Burton Barbee, Sr. went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Frances Hege Barbee, his second wife of two years Madeline Parham Barbee and a brother Clarence Barbee. He leaves to cherish his one son Thomas Barbee, Jr. of Hillsville, VA; and four daughters, Judy and Michael Moore of Germanton, Shirley and James Miller, Pamela and Chris Stone of Lexington, and Lisa and Berty Martinez. He leaves behind eight Grandchildren, Monica Brown and Donnie, Andrea Byrum and Stephen, Jessica Childress and Michael, Kelly Flippin and Steve, Christian Stone Jr. and Julie, Jordan and Brandi Stone, Mathew Martinez and Amy Moore. He had four great grand children Hunter Brown, Leah Grace Flippin, Cashius Childress and Nicholas Moore; two step-daughters Patricia Chandler and David, and Jeaney and Rick Edwards; four Step-Grandchildren Jamie, Patrick, Abigail and Erica. He was born on December 30, 1924, in Forsyth County to the late Burton and Lois Barbee. He served in the United States Army and served in World War II and Korean War. He attended R. J. Reynolds High School and graduated from Draughn's Business College. He was co-owner and Vice President of Bolich Insurance Company. He was a member of Highway 66 club and First Baptist Church of Stanleyville. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday June 13, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating. There burial will follow the service at Parklawn Memorial Park. A Visitation will be held the night before on Friday, June 12, from 6-8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Silas Creek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brenner's Children Hospital, Ossice Development Medical Center Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27157-1021.
