Thomas Morris Alphin, Sr.

MOORESVILLE, NC--On October 10, 2013 the world said goodbye to the toughest of them all, Mr. Thomas Morris Alphin, Sr.. Riene Alphin, his wife of 37 years whom he loved with the passion of ten thousand men, was by his side as his soul departed this life. Mr. Alphin was born on February 16, 1950 in Forsyth County, NC to Leslie Alphin and Margaret Morris Alphin. Tommy leaves behind his sons Tommy Jr. and Christopher, and 5 grandkids including his favorite (yes, he had favorites) Sami 'Fats' Alphin. Tommy's favorite possessions were his mustache and his money, and he loved napping, eating, and flirtin' with the ladies. He never ran from a fight or a cop, or fights with cops. Tommy was an avid fisherman and an even more avid storyteller. His fishing stories were 100% true 60% of the time. Just in case you thought he was a tough guy, you should know his favorite movies included Secondhand Lions and Titanic. Tommy also appreciated the fine theatrical releases such as Caddyshack and Soul Plane. Tommy leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. He survived being shot and breaking his back. He traveled the world and stood up for those who couldn't fight back. Tommy never judged a person by their color or background, just by their character. He paid back every dollar he ever owed, and never passed a penny he didn't pick up. Tommy would make fun of you for crying so please don't be sad. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Steve Roberson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. If you'd like to celebrate his life, in lieu of flowers please make a donation in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. If you're broke, just drink a Bud tallboy in his name. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
