Theodore Carmichael

Theodore Walker (T.W.) Carmichael, 96, of King, NC entered into the more immediate presence of the Lord early in the morning hours of Friday Febuary 5, 2021. He was the oldest of four sons, born on July 4, 1924 to E. Raymond and Miriam Tate Carmichael. T.W. was a graduate of Old Richmond High School and served in the U.S Navy aboard the USS Lejeune during World War II. He was married to the late Mary Frances Shamel Carmichael on May 5, 1946. Together they had two daughters, Annette C. Pardue (Gerald) of Tobaccovile, NC and Beth C. Connaughton (Michael) of Wilmington, NC. He was employed by Farmer’s Dairy Bar, later known as Mayberry Ice Cream Shoppes, for a number of years. He was transferred to Charlotte in 1969 and eventually owned T. Walkers in Charlotte. He is survived by his daughters; one grandson, Andrew C. Pardue (Tiffany); great granddaughters Audrey and Peyton Pardue of Charlotte; two brothers, Querrendar L. Carmichael (Nancy) and B.J. Carmichael, both of Winston-Salem. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Gerald Luke Pardue and one brother, A.G. Carmichael. T.W. was a man of great faith and a member of King Moravian Church, having served on the Board of Trustees. His church family meant so much to him. He attended regulary until his declining health prevented his attending. The family would like to express their gratitude to CNA David and to Crystal for the love and kindness given to him during his final days. Also our appreciation to Martha and the late Joel Kiger, Fran Newsom and Susie and the late Omni Grabs for their kindness, meals and caring they showed our Dad when his health failed. A graveside service for T.W. will be held at King Moravian God’s Acre on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Doug Rights officiating. The wearing of masks is required. Memorials may be made to King Moravian Church, 228 Dalton Road, King, NC, 27021 or King Outreach Ministries, 221 Ingram Road, NC, 27021 or to one of the donor’s choice.
