Thelma Phillips Lane, 81, of Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 at Salem Terrace Assisted Living in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born November 30, 1931 in Forsyth County, NC to Cicero Edward Phillips and Alice Elizabeth Dudley. Ms. Lane is survived by her son, Michael (Janet Craver) Lane of Winston-Salem, five sisters, Mildred Ayers of Winston-Salem, Margaret Royal Winston-Salem, Kathleen (Dale) Jordan of Winston-Salem, Ebbie Moore of Winston-Salem, and Shirley Smith of Winston-Salem; one brother, Bill (Fally) Phillips of Winston-Salem; one grandson, Steven Lane of Mooresville; one granddaughter Erika (Chris) Clark of Concord; and several great grand children. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven 'Barney' Lane; two sisters, Lindy Fields and Betty Gibbs; and two brothers, Robert Phillips and Raymond Phillips. Thelma was a long time resident of Winston-Salem where she lived since childhood. She worked and retired at Inderia Mills. A graveside service will be held at Waughtown Cemetery at 11:00 am on Monday, July 22, 2013. The service will be officiated by Minister Frank Shoemaker of Samaritan Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Salem Terrace staff and many close friends for all of the care and support during Ms. Lane's final days.
