Mrs. Thelma Sexton Houck, 90, of Winston-Salem, NC, peacefully passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was born on January 19, 1934, in Smyth County, VA, to the late Winn W. Ball and Joice Holdaway.
Thelma gave 20+ years of dedicated employment to Hanes Hosiery, beginning in 1974 and retiring in 1996. After her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Thelma attended Hope Moravian Church, where she served in many capacities. She enjoyed chicken pie day, the women’s fellowship circle, and the Love Feast’s at Christmas. In her free time, Thelma enjoyed watching Hallmark Christmas Movies and gardening in her flower bed, but most importantly, she enjoyed spending time telling stories from her childhood with her family, and her cat, Sammi.
In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert L. Houck; and her brother, James C. Gross.
Those left to cherish her memory include her great-niece, Stephanie (Luke) Baity; great-nephew, James (Amy) Gross; great-great-nephew, Joshua Baity; great-great-niece, Jordan (Justin) McClannon; her great-great-great-niece, Raegan McClannon; and several other nieces, nephews, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Westlawn Gardens of Memory, where Thelma will be laid to rest beside of her husband.
