KERNERSVILLE - Thelma Jarvis Hammons, 85, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born May 8, 1927 in Forsyth Co. to the late Amos Elsie and Susan Zimmerman Jarvis. Mrs. Hammons was a member of Kernersville Wesleyan Church and choir. She retired after 30 years of service with Cooks Department Store. Thelma enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, singing, and loving her family. She was known for her wonderful chicken pies. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Thomas Hammons; two brothers and four sisters. Surviving are three sons, Jim Hammons and wife, Joyce of Winston Salem, Steve Hammons and wife, Kathy of Lewisville, Jeff Hammons of Pinnacle; one daughter, Candy Dumas and husband, Paul of Kernersville; eight grandchildren, Kevin and Brent Hammons, Jeremy and Casie Hammons, Carmen Lowman, Braeden, Ciera and Baily Dumas; one great-grandson, Cody Hammons;and one sister, Hallie Redmond of Mooresville. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Kernersville Wesleyan Church with Rev. Phil Hulen and Rev. Don Martin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. A Committal Service will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. in Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.
